Wheels & Waves 1’ Italian Edition
For the last 11 years Biarritz, a beautiful town on southwestern France's Basque coast, hosted 'Wheels and Waves', the annual meet-up of friends sharing the same passions for motorcycles, skateboarding and surfing.
Over the years the event grew bigger gathering more people together all with the same craving for speed, wheels and freedom feelings.
In October 2022, Camaiore, a small city on the beachside near Lucca, hosted the first Italian edition of Wheels and Waves. The event has been welcomed with great enthusiasm and many 'wheelers' come from all over Europe. Three days, three main races, Vintage Enduro, El Rollo and The Race of the Lord, along with skateboard contests and surf movie projections, all gravitating around 'the Village' the core of the event, where everyone was departing from and always coming back to.
The atmosphere was friendly and peaceful during and after the races, builders and riders were happy to smile, help and pull jokes between each other. I understood somehow when people said 'it was better before without sponsors, socials medias and businesses involvement' but then Italians wouldn't have had their Italian edition, and the 'French Family' wouldn't have had enough resources to give the chance to share time, passions and feelings with other like-minded people for so many years. So, although I can sense what the first few editions in Biarritz could have been for many, I also understand and embrace the evolution of a little group of friends' project.
It has been a great experience for me to be part of it, documenting with my eyes three days of the first Italian edition, I wouldn't change anything about it.
Hope to see you soon again
