Simpson Helmet
Simpson Performance products is an American motorsport supplier based in Texas, specializing in manufacturing safety products such as gloves, helmets, driver’s suits and shoes.
The company traces its roots back to 1958 when 18-year-old Bill Simpson suffered a serious injury, breaking both arms in a drag racing car crash. Reflecting on the incident, Simpson remarked, “Until then, I was like most drivers. The only time I thought about safety was after I’d been hurt. This time I was hurt enough to have a long think.”
Ever since that episode Simpson products have been synonymous of safety across many motorsport disciplines, including IndyCars, NASCAR, and National Hot Rod association. Until 2006 Simpson was the only company to supply safety items in NASCAR racing.
A line of Simpson helmets nicknamed “Star Wars” has been in production since 1979 (RX-1)
Today, Simpson remains one of the largest suppliers of performance products, headquartered in New Braunfels, Texas. Nearly all of the company’s products are tested at this location. Additionally, Simpson operates a factory in Pedrengo, Italy, near Bergamo, where helmets for the European division are manufactured.
I recently had the opportunity to test the Venom white gloss helmet during my motorcycle tour in Italy, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed by the product's quality. The helmet is exceptionally lightweight, ensuring comfort during long rides, and remarkably quiet on highways. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
